This opportunity is for individuals currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing career opportunities in business-oriented Information Technology (IT). At GameStop, the IT Risk, Security, and Compliance (RSC) intern may take on one or more roles including risk management, control governance, and information security activities. The IT RSC Intern will be assigned to one of GameStop’s IT teams and will have an opportunity to gain experience with IT Security processes and practices, and will have a hands-on role in the team’s project and/or support activities.


  • Collaborate with team members to deliver projects on time and with a high degree of quality
  • Participate in the identification and resolution of security incidents
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of phishing campaigns
  • Collaborate with audit and technology teams to drive remediation of security risks identified by internal and external audits
  • Participate in regulatory compliance processes across the enterprise
  • Ensure that IT policies and standards are up to date and appropriately approved and communicated
  • Participate in the process to manage risk exceptions within the organization
  • Track remediation efforts and work with technology and business groups to meet agreed upon timelines to address security risks in a timely fashion
  • Communicate timelines and escalates lack of compliance to management
  • Collaborate with the vulnerability management team to coordinate identification of vulnerability owners and remediation of those vulnerabilities
  • Provide actionable metrics regarding status of vulnerability remediation to the appropriate owners

  • Proficient knowledge on related technical skill sets and technologies including but not limited to SQL and Oracle databases, Windows and Linux operating systems, and basic networking

  • Basic understanding of software implementation methodology concepts
  • Basic understanding of project management techniques and terminology


  • Basic understanding of SQL and Oracle databases, Windows and Linux operating systems, and basic networking
  • Basic understanding of at least one system development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology; preferably agile
  • Basic understanding of IT development practices such as source code control management (e.g. TFS), configuration management, and release management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion
  • Clear oral and verbal communication and listening skills
  • Possess good analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
  • Self-motivated with a willingness and desire to learn about new security concepts and techniques
  • Able to follow directions
  • Must be qualified to work in the U.S.
  • Basic security knowledge (at least one core security class)
  • Basic IT troubleshooting


  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university — information technology related field of study such as computer science, information science, computer engineering, software engineering preferred
  • At least 2 years of education in a degree related to Information Technology, Risk, and/or IT Audit
  • At least 2 years of experience programming with Microsoft’s technologies (school, internship or practical experience)
